Keep dinner simple yet spectacular with Curtis' chargrilled sausages with sweet potato. A recipe that will never fail you.

Ingredients

500g sweet potatoes, peeled, cut into 2cm-thick slices

2 tbs olive oil, divided

8 (560g pkt) Coles Honey BBQ Beef Sausages

1 tbs Coles Italian Red Wine Vinegar

1½ tsp Coles Wholegrain Mustard

40g Coles Australian Baby Spinach & Rocket

1/4 red onion, thinly sliced

Method

Step 1

Position a rack in the bottom half of the oven and preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced). Preheat a large heavy baking tray in a hot oven for at least 10 mins.

Step 2

In a large bowl, toss sweet potatoes with 1 tbs oil to coat—season with salt and pepper. Arrange the sweet potatoes in a single layer on a hot tray. Roast, turning the sweet potatoes over as needed, for 25-30 mins or until sweet potatoes are golden brown and tender.

Step 3

Meanwhile, preheat a chargrill pan over medium-high heat. Chargrill the sausages for 12-15 mins or until caramelised and cooked. Transfer to a plate.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk the vinegar, mustard and remaining 1 tbs oil to blend. Season to taste with salt and pepper. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potatoes with the vinaigrette, spinach and rocket mixture and red onion. Transfer the salad to a large serving platter.

Step 5

Serve the sausages with the sweet potato salad.

Ready for a breakfast treat that’ll put some pep in your step? Bakers Delight caramelised French toast with pecans will quickly become a weekend favourite!

Bakers Delight Hi Fibre Lo-GI White Block loaf makes the perfect base for this delicious recipe, cut thick to soak up all that gooey goodness. The French toast mixture is indulgent, with cinnamon and vanilla adding vibrant flavours to the custard. The sauce is where this dish really shines though, with caramelised pecan, brown sugar and cream coming together to make a velvety caramel sauce that’s perfect for drizzling over your toast. It really is a must-try!

Ingredients

6 slices Bakers Delight Hi Fibre Lo-GI White Block Loaf (unsliced)
4 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup thickened cream
2 tbs butter

METHOD

STEP 1
Using a bread knife thickly slice your Hi Fibre Lo-Gi White Block loaf into 6 thick cafe-style slices for French toast

STEP 2
In a medium bowl whisk your eggs, milk, 1 tsp of cinnamon & 1 tsp of vanilla. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, coating on both sides and then put aside on a large plate

STEP 3
In a large fry pan on medium heat, melt some butter and then in 2 batches cook your French toast. Cook each slice on each side for about 2-3 mins until golden. Put aside on a plate

STEP 4
For the caramel pecan sauce, add 2 tbs of butter to a medium saucepan. Once melted down add your brown sugar and stir until dissolved

STEP 5
Add the remaining 1 tsp of cinnamon, vanilla and cream, and stir until the sauce is combined. Keep stirring, once the sauce is the desired golden caramel colour and starts to bubble mix in your pecans. Stir to coat the nuts and then turn off the heat

STEP 6
Place your slices of French toast into a large dish or pan with an edge & then evenly pour over the caramelised pecan sauce. Serve immediately.

Lips are easily left out of our sunscreen routine though can burn just like the rest of our skin. Wear SPF 30+ lip balm to protect them.

When choosing a product to heal chapped lips, check the ingredient list, especially for these friends and foes.1

• Beeswax

• Shea butter

• Petrolatum

• Dimethicone

Foes:

• Eucalyptus

• Camphor 

• Menthol

• Flavouring 

5. Check your sensation

If your lips burn, sting or tingle, it doesn't mean a product is working. Stop and switch to a non-irritating option instead.

6. Drink water on repeat

This will help replenish the lost moisture that can contribute to dry, cracked lips.2

7. Don't pick

Sure, dry lips feel annoying - but don't pick, suck or bite at them. Doing this can irritate them or cause bleeding, which won't help them heal.

8. Don’t lick

While it may feel like it's helping, licking your lips is actually very drying! This is because when the saliva evaporates, it leeches more moisture from your lips' delicate skin.

9. Eat well

10. Butt out

Smoking contributes to dry lips and wrinkles around the mouth.

1 Bakers Delight Croissant
1 Bakers Delight Choc Croissant
1 Bakers Delight Nutella Danish
180g block melting dark chocolate
1 tbsp maple syrup
250ml full cream milk
1/2 cup thickened cream for whipping

Method

STEP 1

Roughly chop the chocolate and add to a saucepan on medium heat with the maple syrup and milk. Whisk till the chocolate is fully melted and thickened (approx 3 minutes)

STEP 2

Whip the cream using a handheld or stand mixer

STEP 3

Top the thick hot chocolate with 1-2 heaped tbsp of whipped cream

STEP 4

Serve with Bakers Delight pastries and enjoy!

How do you make hot chocolate thicker?
To make your hot chocolate thicker, try adding thickened or double cream to the mixture for an extra smooth, creamy consistency. You can also add a little cornflour to a tablespoon of milk to make a paste, whisking this into your hot chocolate mixture on the stove until it thickens.

Why is hot chocolate in Europe so thick?
Hot chocolate in Europe tends to be thicker as it’s usually made on cream and chocolate which both have a high fat content. These ingredients give it a smoother and thicker quality. Take pumpkin soup to the next level with this tasty twist on the classic. Made with ginger and burnt butter, it’s a warming dish that’s full of flavour.

Serves 6
Cook time 1 hour
Prep time 15 mins

Ingredients
1 butternut pumpkin, peeled, seeded, cut into 5cm pieces
1/3 cup (80ml) olive oil
2 tsp fennel seeds
150g butter, chopped
2 brown onions, thinly sliced
10cm-piece ginger, peeled, chopped
5 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
4 cups (1L) salt-reduced chicken stock
1/2 cup (140g) Coles Greek Style Natural Yoghurt
2 tbs pistachio dukkah

Method

• Step 1
  Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a large baking tray with baking paper. Arrange the pumpkin on the lined tray. Drizzle with half the oil and sprinkle with the fennel seeds. Toss to coat. Season. Roast for 45 mins or until the pumpkin is golden and tender.

• Step 2
  Meanwhile, heat 30g of the butter and the remaining oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion, ginger and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 mins or until the onion is soft and begins to caramelise.

• Step 3
  Add the stock and roasted pumpkin to the pan and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium-high. Cook for 10 mins or until tender.

• Step 4
  Combine the yoghurt and 2 tbs cold water in a small bowl. Season.

• Step 5
  Melt the remaining butter in a medium frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook for 2-3 mins or until golden brown. Remove from heat. Stir in the dukkah.

• Step 6
  Use a stick blender to carefully blend the pumpkin mixture until smooth. Ladle the soup among serving bowls. Top with the yoghurt mixture and brown butter mixture to serve.
  
  Serve with coriander sprigs and chargrilled Coles Turkish Pide
  Ingredient tip: You can substitute chicken for vegetable stock.
